The Impact of Learning Grammar on Accurate English Speaking of ESL Learners

Advances in speaking have brought new insight towards teaching grammar, and has led to new methods regarding the improvement of speaking. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of learning grammar on accurate English speaking of ESL learners in one of the institutes in Mashhad.To reach this aim, 20 students in intact classes were chosen as participants, and were divided into two groups; experimental group and control group. The instructions for proper grammar features in the speaking task were presented to the experimental group. On the other hand, control group was exposed to the same and usual material as always. The results of this survey indicated that learners of the experimental group comprehended grammar better, and reduced their ratings of ungrammatical sentences in conversation and finally in posttest with comparable two groups considered, they outperformed the control group .Additionally, the results confirm this view that speaking with correct grammatical sentences would lead students to favorable feeling.
