چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim:Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the 6th human cancer with high morbidity and mortality rate. Owing to the recent significance of anticancer effects of probiotics in various types of human cancers, current study was conducted to assay the potential of three Iranian endemic probiotics in inhibition of HCC cell growth.Methods:HepG2 cell line was treated with different concentration of supernatant isolated from L. paracasei, L. acidophilus and L. rhamnosus compared to MRL/MRS broth mediums as negative control. MTT assay was performed to assess cell viability within 24, 48 and 72 hours following treatment. Results:MTT results demonstrated significant decrease in HepG2 cells viability when treated with each of probiotics and was directly correlated with concentration of bacterial supernatant. Conclusion:Similar to the other human cancers, lactobacillus can be considered as a potential anticancer probiotics in restriction of HCC cells growth. Further studies are needed to clarify active components of three lactobacillus strains supernatant and their potential as adjuvant therapy in HCC patients treatment, as well.
