چکیده

The aim of this study is to develop an analytical method to analyze the mode I strain energy release rate (SERR) of an adhesive material embedded in the middle plane of double cantilever beam (DCB) laminated composites. An energy-based criterion was used in order to develop the model. The cracked and un-cracked regions of a DCBspecimen have been modeled independently. The cracked region was modeled in form of a cantilever Timoshenko beam with a specified angle. On the other hand, the un-cracked region, including the adhesive layer and one of the sublaminates, was modeled in form of two Euler- Bernoulli beams. As the main innovation of this paper, the adhesive layer was considered as an elastic beam bonded to the upper sub-laminate with an elastic foundation. At the end of the modeling stages, using the principle of superposition, the displacement due to applying the force on the tip of the crack and the mode I SERR were calculated. Finally, the present model was validated by the experimental data available in the literature for laminated composites. The results showed there is a good agreement between the analytical and experimental methods
