Previous studies have reported contradictory results regarding the role of word order on the comprehension of different kinds of sentences in different languages of the world. This study investigated the effect of word order on the comprehension of pseudoclefts in English as L2 across one experiment. For the current experiment 16 Persianspeaking female students aged between 179 and 210 months were recruited from a secondary school. These students were examined by a test including 27 items, the items included 10 Subject pseudoclefts (S), 10 Object pseudoclefts (O) and 7 fillers. The students’ comprehension was tested by a picture selection task. If the participants responded correctly they took 1 and if not 0. The obtained data was analyzed by a one way repeated measure ANOVA. The results indicated that comprehension of object pseudoclefts is significantly easier than subject pseudoclefts in L2.
