Functional Analysis of Innovation System in Iran s Oil Industry

Innovation system, according to the functional approach, determines the boundaries of the system anddistinguishes the actors grounded on their performances; furthermore, assessment of innovationsystem performance, description of status quo, and recognition of its capabilities are studied andanalyzed. This study with institutional mapping of oil industry and subsequently charting institutionfunctionmatrix on the one hand, and weighing the matrix of functional networks on the other hand,has tried to illustrate active institutions performance in the oil industry s innovation system withregard to the relative importance of functional dimensions, and ultimately has offered suggestions toimprove the oil industry s innovation system.
