چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the world. According to the Iranian cancer registry, women breast cancer is the most common cancer, and claims 22 percent of all types of cancers. This study aims to examine breast cancer incidence age trends in Isfahan province during 2001 to 2013 and comparing it with England.Methodology: This repeated cross-sectional study was conducted using the data recorded in Isfahan cancer registry. Isfahan age standardized incidence rate (ASR) compared with the corresponding ASR for England. To determine and compare the variations in the trend, Joint Point Regression method using joint point regression software, version 4.3.1.0, was employed Results: 6057 breast cancers recorded in Isfahan Cancer Registry during 2001 to 2013 were analysed. For the same period, the number of the women suffering from breast cancer in England was 141011 cases. Findings showed the most frequent cases in Isfahan occurred in 45 to 49 years age group (16.2%) and in England in 60-64 (13/4 percent). Also, the age standardized incidence rate in Isfahan for the period 2001 to 2013 increased from 19 to 59.9 per one hundred thousand people. Furthermore, the average annual percent changes (AAPC) for the breast cancer incidence were 14.8 (9.0-20.9; 95%: p<0.05) in Isfahan province and 0.8 (0.4 – 1.2; 95%: p< 0.05) in England respectively. Conclusion: The findings revealed that there is an increasing trend for the breast cancer incidence in both Isfahan province and England for the period 2001 to 2013. However, the trend is 19 times higher in Isfahan than in England. This is perhaps because of more coverage and records of new cases in the Isfahan Cancer Registry.
