Reirradiation followed by second breast conserving surgery

Due to increasing overall survival of breast cancer and efficiency of systemic treatment and conducting breast conserving therapy as a usual treatment. Incidence of local recurrence in breast has been increased. Considering desire of patients for having their own breast, surgeons try operation for second breast conserving. After showing result of breast conserving surgery without radiotherapy, in this paper we review results of different radiotherapy techniques when used as reirradiation which are contained Accelerated partial breast irradiation by external beam and discussion about RTOG 1014 a phase II trial which started 2011, using twice daily radiotherapy. - Intra operative radiotherapy the experience by intraoperative electron and photon reirradiation - Brachytherapy (Interstitial, mammosite…) even there is prospective trial by using multi catheter brachytrapy. Results that express reirradiation could be comparable with mastectomy in a phase III clinical trial. - Proton beam, limited case reports Also we explain ongoing trials in this subject
