Sesame ameliorates the damage of testes induced by diabetic adult rats

چکیده

Background: Diabetes has been associated with deleterious effects on testicular tissue of both men and women. The purpose of this study was to investigate the protective effects of sesame on the histomorphometrical testis in diabetic rats.Methods: 30 adult male rats were randomly divided into 3 groups. Control group received normal saline (0.1 mL, IP, daily), control diabetic group received 65 mg/kg (IP, daily) streptozotocin (STZ) and experimental groups along with 65 mg/kg (IP, daily) received sesame 200mg/kg (IP, daily). At the end, the testicular samples also were used for histomorphometric study.Result: The mean number of spermatocytes and leydig cells were increased significantly in sesame group compared with the other groups.Conclusion: The present study revealed that sesame, ameliorates side effects on testis in diabetic rats.
