Cyanobacteria inoculant development in submerged cultures for application in Biological Soil Crust restoration of semi-arid and desert areas

In the recent years, focus on the application of artificial inoculant in biological soil crust restoration and re-construction has been increased. In this research, the cultivation of Microcoleus strain of Asaluye arid area was studied in various culture mediums. Bold’s Basal Medium (BBM) has been used as control. Municipal wastewa-ter has been used as culture medium for reduction of production price as well as reduction of pollutant raised by wastewaters in the environment. Microcoleus grown in the wastewater and its concentration reached up to 0.6 g/l In addition, the technical and economic challenges of inoculant production were discussed for application in biological soil crust restoration such as biomass drying and longtime store. The economic and easy production of soil cyanobacteria inoculant will provide an effective combat system against dust emission which is among serious national problems and environment in a large country areas
