چکیده

Introduction: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer in women worldwide. BC survivors suffer from a range of physical and psychological problems following the diagnosis and management of BC which may affect quality of life in patients. Method: A systematic search was done in 4 databases to extract all related English and Persian- language articles in 2014. Results: It has been reported that one-third to half of BC survivors had experienced mental disorders such as anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, and adjustment disorders. Mental disorders was more prevalent in patients who had chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and mastectomy. Some demographic factors such as age , marital status, employment and education level , as well as personality traits (optimism , coping skills), presence of physical problems and medical factors ( stage of disease , type and extent of surgery) have been associated with more mental health problems in BC survivors. Conclusion: With the high prevalence of mental disorders in BC survivors health care providers have a unique opportunity to detect and address mental problems promptly in order to improve quality of life in patients.
