Assessing the Effects of Transportation on Different Aspects of Rural Development (Case Study: Central District of Tabriz County)

To meets the needs of the population,transportation is one of the mostimportant and most valuable assets ofeach country and can be a strong creditfor its economic growth. If theauthorities do not provide enoughmeans of transportation, of course, the process ofproduction and consumption cannot be taken in thevantage. Therefore, for optimal efficiency, the propertransportation system creates positive and importantresults. For the development of this industry,prophesy, as well as basic and regional studies, willsolve the problems in order to develop and satisfy thevital needs of the people. Therefore, the need toimprove accessibility to transportation is one of themost important obstacles to achieving sustainablerural development goals. Because investment in thissector has led to economic and social developmentand, conversely, the lack of investment in this sceneleads to underdevelopment and rural poverty. Thepresent study seeks to evaluate the impact oftransportation in the different dimensions of ruraldevelopment in the central part of Tabriz. Manypeople are traveling daily to carry out educational,administrative, health-medicinal, service and etc., inthe studied rural area. This problem, especially in thespring and winter, brings about hardship for thevillagers because of severe snow and rain. Also,given the prosperity of agriculture and handicrafts inthese rural areas, farmers face with problems ofselling and delivering their products to the marketbecause of transportation deficiencies, such asspending a lot of money, non-sales of agriculturalproducts, handicrafts and others. Considering theabove, it is necessary to study the role oftransportation in rural development in the central partof Tabriz County.
