Background: The main aim of this study was recognizing the effect of anger management training on emotional self--regulation and control of emotions about the parents of mentally-retarded students. The method of research was quasi-experimental study with pre test design and a pretest with control group. All parents of children with intellectual disability form statistical group of this research that are studying during the year 94-93. Test givers consisted of 30 mothers of children with intellectual disability who were selected using sampling in available. In this study : the emotional self--regulation questionnaires of Hafman and Kashdan and emotional regulation of ACS. Anger control skills were taught to the experimental group in eight and a half hour sessions twice a week. Using the software spss was statistical methods for data analysis, descriptive statistic (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (covariance). Results: The results showed that the value of observed F is the variable that is dependent in significant emotional self-regulation. The value of observed F of dependent variable of controlling emotions between the two groups (experimental and control) showed a significant difference. Conclusion: The results show that anger management training have had an affect on emotional self-regulation and also controlling the emotions of the parents of mentally-retarded students.
