چکیده

In this investigation microwave-assisted gel combustion was used for preparation of Zn 0.9Co 0.1O ceramic pigment. For this purpose, Zn (NO3)2.6H2O and Co(NO3)2 6H2O as oxidant and glycin as a fuel were used. Products were characterized by by X-ray diffraction, Scanning- Transition Electron Microscopy, FT-IR and diffuse reflectance. Results showed that by using glycine as fuel pure ZnO phase was obtained and no calcinations step was needed to obtain the ZnO crystal structure. During the combustion process decomposition of Co3O4 was occurred and cobalt entered completely to ZnO wurtzite structure. Crystallite size was to be 40 nm and particle size of the powder after 30 min of milling was to be about 100 nm. Colorimetric results also indicated a broad reflectance band around 530 nm (green region).
