Pleomorphic adenoma of the breast, a case report

Pleomorphic adenoma or benign mixed tumor is the most common tumor typein salivary gland. PA is uncommon in the breast tissue. Only 73 cases of PA ofbreast reported in the world literature. We are reporting 74th case of PA of thebreast. A 61 year old woman referred to shahid beheshti hospital obstetric clinicwith bloody painless discharge from right nipple. Bean size mass was detectedright below the right nipple. In microscopic view the pathologist foundproliferation in epithelial and myo-epithelial cells that had small and multiplenuclei. Myxoid and chondroid stroma could be seen. Immune-histo-chemistrystain was positive for S-100 and patchy for GFAP 15 in tumor cells and forSMA around the tubule-glandular and tumor cell aggregates, and confirmed thediagnosis of the first pathologist.It’s essential for the pathologists to consider PA of the breast as a differentialdiagnosis of a rounds circumscribed mass in juxtaareolar areas. And carefulparaffin sections should be performed for unnecessary mastectomy.
