The effects of microgravity on TiO2 NPs and ct-DNA binding

Microgravity, which is the condition that objects, or people appear to be weightless. The effects of microgravity can be seen when astronauts and objects float in space. The term micro-g environment is more or less a synonym of weightlessness and zero-g, but indicates that g-forces are not quite zero, just very small. In this research, we have studied the effects of microgravity in the interaction between TiO2 NPs (as a nano particles model) and ct-DNA using UV-visible spectroscopy and FT-IR spectroscopy at 37 ˚C for a period of time. Our results display that TiO2 NPs have different effects on DNA structure and DNA binding in gravity and microgravity conditions. The structure of DNA in microgravity condition changed. Furthermore, our results showed that TiO2 NPs bind to grooves of DNA and the affinity of TiO2 NPs in microgravity condition was higher than gravity condition. The result obtaining from this present study probably provide useful information to understand the effects of gravity on binding of any ligands and also to realize the effects of gravity on macromolecule structure.
