A New Institutional Solution to Face Urban and Another Territorial Challenges

1 - Introduction and Problem Statement The modern world carried with it a much more complex urban society, witch diversity, energy and capacity of innovation are fundamental to assure the development of the countries. And yet, the old paradigm of the urbanism philosophy - the balance between liberty, culture and economic development in the city - still very true. That’s why is important to think together about the institutional solutions we can develop in our societies to assure the best ways possible to managed the changes and to assure the ability to develop on our populations the paths to innovation and global competition. We, at the Territorial Institute of Portugal, a private NGO, are developing an interesting kind of organization, looking every day for new ways of innovate, creating partnerships and develop new ideas about the urban areas. How to do better, with less money, less environmental damages and more participation of the people How to receive better new people coming from abroad, and always remember that phrase of Goethe, the city belongs in the same way to those who lived there and to those who arrive . On a structuralism approach, we intend to give a contribute to the solution of this question. 2 - Background of Study The institutional experiences we are doing at the Territorial Institute, to develop new solutions of partnerships and project capabilities. 3 - Research Methodology The description of the solutions we have managed this last years, the comment about the weaknesses and the advantages of them and four case studies of projects developed with our institutional solution. 4 - Findings Concept A scientific partnershipA network for territorial and urban development .
