A smartphone can be utilized to extract the knowledge about driving and it is the base in numerous of intelligent transportation systems. The alignment of the coordinate system of the smartphone and the vehicle is one of the prerequisite for this aim. In this study, a hill climbing search is applied on the smart features made by sensor data to reorient the smartphone such that the coordinate of smartphone embeds on the coordinate of vehicle. Then the useful information about driving can be extracted from smartphones. To evaluate this technique, a transportation sample on speed analysis is selected and we show that based on the smartphone data, the proposed technique has 85% accuracy for estimating the average speed. Also the proposed model can be used to estimate the instantaneous speed with 10 km/h error
