River; a constructive view on environmental sustainability Case study: study of factors associated with quality improvement of Rudsar River with an emphasis on citizen’s mentality

View is the upshot of an interaction between human and natures, which will serve as groundwork and by-product of human activities. Therefore, proper design of landscape elements such as river can create dynamic and inspiring environments which are able to satisfy variant requirements of society in a sustainable manner. One of the challenges that necessitates doing the present research is an interest in the process of utilizing Rudsar people’s mental image of a sustainable river-scape design as well as a study of components affecting it. To this end, with the aim of a library method evaluative components were reviewed at three levels; river, city, and people. Next, by benefitting from field studies (interview and questionnaire), obtained components were evaluated and they were casted as final results of the work, following quantitative and qualitative analyses, with an analytical approach in the final stage. The results of the research showed that the components morphology and biology of Rudsar River and attraction of river bank have great potential for achieving sustainable urban landscape, as the river has been able to evoke a spatial identity in citizens’ mental image
