Investigating the Degree of Realization of the Objectives of Research- Oriented Eductaion in Smart Schools, in Comparison with Ordinary Schools

چکیده

This study attempted to investigate the degree of realization of the objectives of researchoriented education in terms of the elements of problem-solving, creativity, curiosity, cooperative learning and resiliency in smart schools, as compared with ordinary schools, of the city of Tehran in the school year 2013-2014. The study adopted a descriptive-comparative methodology using questionnaires as a means of measurement. The population comprised all the students of the smart schools of the city of Tehran in the school year 2013-2014, among whom 700 students were selected as the sample using cluster random sampling where each variable was assigned its own questionnaire. The formal and content validity of the questionnaires were measured and, based on Cronbach’s alpha, their validities were found to be 0.84, 0.80, 0.73, 0.88, and 0.79, respectively. Data analysis was performed at the two levels of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. In descriptive statistics, frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and, in inferential statistics, the Mann-Whitney Utest was used. Results demonstrated that there was no significant relationship between the components of the research-oriented approach in ordinary and smart schools, except for resiliency, at the p≤ 0.05 level.
