خلاصه مقاله:
Shape memory alloys (SMA) have been known for many decades. This type of metallic materials show ability to recover their original shape at certain characteristic temperatures (shape memory effects or SME) or to undergo very large strains without any residual strains due to plastic deformations or failure (known as super-elasticity property). In recent decade, SMAs are very limited used in the construction industry due to their cost and to limited knowledge of the material. This review has focused on the recent use of shape memory alloys in the enhancement of the concrete columns and piers performance and post-strengthening due to the SME property of SMA. SMAs can be used to confine concrete columns or piers actively, to increase their ductility.
