The marketer and policymakers always seek the strategies for encouraging individuals to pay more attention to the ecological issues and sustainable consumption. One of the new methods to achieve this goal is gamefication. Gamefication is a persuasive technology which motivate the customers to do or not to do certain behaviors in a competitive setting. In the area of sustainable consumption, the concept of green gamefication defined as the use of game design elements to solve ecological problems. This study thus aims at investigating the effect of the gamefication on motivating the green behaviors and creating a new pattern of sustainable consumption among the customers. Therefore, this study presents a brief definition of gamefication and green gamefication concepts as well as their characteristics and effects. Moreover, it provides a model of gamefication based on its elements for sustainable consumption. The present study is a preface to conceptualization of green gamefication as a new method to promote sustainable consumption. Finally, it suggested the researchers, marketers, and managers to develop this new method in future.
