Enrichment in Academic Entrepreneurship Efforts due to Organizational Support: A Public University Perspective

In recent times academic entrepreneurship has succeeded to get special attention from researchers and strategic decision makers. Major focus was finding out the causes and determinants of academic entrepreneurship but there is stills an unattended query that how university administrative support figures out the decision of academics to involve in entrepreneurial activities. Keeping in view the public sector universities of Pakistan, this manuscript evaluates how come the entrepreneurial capacity of academicians in terms of opportunity recognition makes it possible that they being indulge in new venture creation and research commercialization activities. This research is quantitative in nature and field survey technique has been used to collect the data to examine the relationships between organizational support and academic entrepreneurship within the perspective of public sector universities of Pakistan. The data was collected through self administered questionnaires from 170 academicians of public sector universities of Faisalabad Pakistan, who are involved in teaching and research. Collected information was analyzed by SPSS 20. The results show that the organizational support plays a positive and significant role in motivating academics to involve in start new ventures and research commercialization. This study has its implication for academic entrepreneurship researchers and university administration for better entrepreneurial environment development.
