One of the most common and economical methods for waste disposal is Landfilling. Landfill cover system is one of the main components of landfills which prevent waste exposure to the environment by creating a barrier between the waste and surrounding environment. Landfill cover system stability and integrity is a fundamental part of the design, construction, and maintenance of landfills. Tapered cover system can be considered as a practical method for improvement the stability of landfill cover however the simultaneous effect of seismic and seepage forces in tapered cover system has not been studied. This paper provides a framework based on limit equilibrium method to evaluate the stability of tapered cover system under seismic and seepage (parallel and horizontal seepage force patterns) loading condition. Also, a sensitivity analysis is performed to illustrate sensitivity of Factor of Safety (FS) to different design parameters. The results reveal that FS is so sensitive to friction angle of the cover soil, slope angle beneath the geomembrane, and interface friction angle between cover soil and geomembrane among studied design parameters
