چکیده مقاله:

Nonwood raw materials such as rice straw, wheat straw, bagasse, and bamboo have attracted more interest as partial pulp replacement for traditional wood rawmaterials[2]. These materials are abundant, inexpensive, and readily available source of renewable lignocellulosic for paper, chemicals and other technicalproducts [11]. Non-wood materials such as bagasse and various other agricultural residues are attractive for pulp-making. The main problem that hinders the intensive use of non-wood raw materials in papermaking industry is the environmental pollution caused by black liquor [6]. Therfore, the absence of an adequate and economic treatment technique for the black liquor from bagasse pulping is a major problem restricting the increased useof bagasse as a raw material in the papermaking industry [3]. Pollution from black liquor has been the most seriousfactor which hinders development of pulp and paper industry. An effective method to solve the pollution problem of black liquor is to develop new pulpingtechnologies. Potassium-base chemical pulp of agricultural residues offers a novel approach to dispose of spent pulp liquor in a safe and economical way [8].Aqueous ammonia mixed with caustic potash as wheat straw pulping liquor was investigated by Huang G.4 et al. They reported that caustic potash did not only reduce the NH3 usage and cooking time, but also provided a potassium source as a fertilizer in the black liquor.wheat straw pulping process with NH4OH–KOH achieved a satisfactory pulp yield, compared with a pulp yield of 42.7%–49.2% from a conventional sodacooking treatment for wheat straw [1] with good quality. Huang et al. 2008 carried out Bagasse pulping trials with NH4OH-KOH in the presence of anthraquinone forthe purpose of reducing or eliminating the black liquor problem in pulping processes. The experimental results indicated that this pulping process is particularly well suited for the pulping of bagasse, where the bagasse was delignified to a low Kappa number value of 11.3, thepercentage delignification was 80%, and the pulp yield was 65%. Also, the black liquor from the pulping process contained rich nutrients of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, and other useful materials. Jiang et al. 2006, studied a pulping method using KOHK2SO3- AQ system as cooking liquor on wheat straw. They reported that cooking system of KOH-K2SO3-AQ can obtain satisfactory kappa number and higher pulpyield. Also an important advantage of this pulping system is that the black liquor contains rich nutrition such as potassium and lignin that could be used asfertilizer resources for agricultural production. Foelkel and Milanez studied the use of chemicals where sodium was substituted by potassium in kraft and soda pulpingof Eucalyptus. Their test result indicated that a satisfactory pulp could be obtained with K-based pulping chemicals. H’ng7 reported that good pulpyield and low kappa number were achieved in potassium hydroxide-anthraquinone (KOH-AQ) pulping of oil palm fibers comparable to that of soda pulping. Huang5 et al. investigated a pulping technology of wheat straw with aqueous ammonia and diluent caustic potash. It was observedthat instead of using the conventional alkaline pulping method, pulping of wheat straw with aqueous ammonia containing a small amount of KOH removed lignin effectively. A new pulping technique was studied in this article that using KOH system as cooking liquor to digest bagasse. The purpose of our study is to comprise pulp properties and effluent characteristics from two pulping processes (NaOH and KOH). Also, reduction pollution by black liquor from bagasse-pulp without changing the main pulping technique during pulping production is important.
