Investigating the Effects of Mixing Time on Rheological Properties of Modified Bitumen Applying Crumb Reclaimed Rubber Obtained from Waste Tires by Frequency Sweep Mode

چکیده

Scrap tire rubber accumulating has hazards for environment. To prevent these problems and making this waste mass valuable, reusing it in bitumen applied specially in flexible pavement, is an attractive alternative. In this way, mixing time duration must be taken into account as an effective parameter for mixing crumb reclaimed rubber (CRR) with bitumen. The frequency test was done to assess the reaction of bitumen under different loading conditions at 40˚C (middle temperature performance) and 65˚C (high temperature performance). High frequency simulates high speed traffic and vice versa. By analyzing the results of DSR test it is proved that adding the amount of crumb rubber raises G*, decreases tanδ and temperature susceptibility, also leads to more elastic behavior. At 65˚C only crumb rubber particles prepare stiffness for bitumen; and larger particles are more effective than smaller ones. At 40˚C, the G* curves of specimens containing crumb rubber were very close.
