The effect of diferuloylmethane as a chain extender on surface properties of biodegradable segmented thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers

The goal of this work was the synthesis of biodegradable segmented thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers (STPUs) based on poly (ε-caprolactone) diol (PCl diol), 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) using 1,4-butandiol (BDO) and diferuloylmethane (DFI) as chain extenders. The effect of chain extenders on polyurethanes properties was investigated. The chemical structure and surface property of the prepared samples were assessed using FTIR spectroscopy and water contact angle techniques. Prepared material would have a great potential for using in medical applications.
