چکیده مقاله:

In this study composites of ethylene-propylene rubber (EPR) filled with nano- and micro- particles of titania (TiO2) were prepared by solvent assisted mixing technique and progressively increasing the filler volume fraction. Dielectric properties and dynamic-mechanical-thermal analysis (DMTA) of the composites were measured as functions of frequency and temperature, respectively. It was found that the average aggregate size of the nano-titania is smaller than that for the micro-titania, which results in higher dielectric permittivity for composites containing nano-titania with the same volume fraction, especially for higher filler loadings. Also, the measured dielectric permittivity largely differs from the one predicted theoretically through Maxwell-Garnett model. DMTA results revealed that nano-titania has more interfacial effect on dynamics of immobilized interphase region between polymer and filler than micro-titania. Effect of particle size of titania on dielectric properties of EPR was explained through slow-dynamic polymer chains in the vicinity of filler particles
