چکیده
Conventional plastics have a large impact in increasing the environment’s pollution. That’s why the interest has turned towards novel partially and completely biodegradable polymers. In this work, blends of general purpose polystyrene and prime starch with glycerol as plasticizer and compatibilizer were prepared in different ratios of starch and glycerol by melt mixing in twin screw extruder. To evaluate the impact strength and thermal properties of blends, we used Izod impact strength test, melt flow index and Vicat softening temperature tests. Due to increase of polymer rigidity, addition of starch to general purpose polystyrene leads to reducing the impact strength and melt flow index and increasing Vicat temperature. But the addition of glycerol leads to improve these properties and overcome the effects of starchکلیدواژه ها
