چکیده مقاله:

In this study, a new diacid monomer (M1) containing amide linkage was synthetized and used to design a new unsaturated polyester resin (UPR). In this way we could replace the aromatic ingredient, phthalic anhydride, required to fulfill the desired physical properties of UPR. The obtained UPR (PS2) due to the presence of amide groups in the main chains, can be attributed to the poly(ester-amide)s family. The synthesized polymer was cured and some of the important physical and mechanical properties such as, tensile strength, gelation time, curing exotherm peak temperature (Tmax), crosslinking density and amount of shrinkage were measured according to assigned ASTM test methods and compared with that of the M1-free UPR (PS1). The results of tensile test showed that the introduction of monomer M1 did significantly improved the mechanical strength, while the aromatic monomer in the case of PS1 had been reduced
