خلاصه مقاله:
Coating of medical devices surface with lubricious materials has been recognized as a standard practice in medical device industry for parts with cutting edges e.g., cannulas to reduce the penetration force needed. Technically, dipping and spraying are the most commonly used coating techniques but silicone-based lubricants, among a few sanitary approved choices, are the most widely used ones from a material science viewpoint. However, having a formulation consisting of a curable viscosity modifying rubber, silicone oil, solvent etc. to provide acceptable tribological properties along with biocompatibility and long-standing physical properties is still a challenging task. Here, a coating composition is developed based on an amino end-functionalized RTV silicone rubber, silicone oil and solvent which forms a uniform, cohesive coating layer on the cannula surface. Formulation of composition was optimized according to critical crosslinking concentration, load-displacement findings and friction force response after application on cannula by a dipping method
