Nowadays poly(dimethyl siloxane)(PDMS) copolymers with microphase separated morphology structure have found application for preparation of gas separation membranes. Morphology
structure of PDMS copolymers has a great influence on performance of the prepared membranes. Where, the morphology structure of the PDMS copolymers is affected by their surface tension. In this paper, we have synthesized number of copolymers of PDMS and acrylates via atom transfer radical polymerization method. The chemical structure of the copolymers evaluated using 1H-NMR analyses. The surface tensions of the synthesized copolymers were calculated according to their structural data. The morphology structure of the synthesized copolymers evaluated using atomic force microscopy (AFM) micrographs. The results confirmed the straightforward correlation between the surface tension and morphology structure of the synthesized copolymers.
