چکیده

In this study, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and its blend with chitosan (Cts) were used to prepare hydrogels through phase separation technique with and without modified montmorillonite. For wound dressing application, nitrofurazone (NFZ) was loaded to hydrogels and the kinetics of in-vitro drug delivery was studied. Water absorption rate and drug release mechanism of different hydrogels were investigated. Results showed that the presence of clay in hydrogels could control the release rate and change the mechanism of release. The effect of clay on the diffusion coefficient of NFZ was also obtained for hydrogels
