چکیده

Impermeable films of styrene-co-butyl acrylate were prepared by applying Pickering emulsion polymerization in presence of KPS and Na+MMT. Then its nanocomposite films were investigated by analyses such as TEM, OTR,water uptake and WVTR. The barrier properties of these clear films processed from emulsion latex, was according to the well dispersion of clay layers within the nanocomposite matrix. Drastic reduction of OTR and WVTR were observed by increasing the clay loading up to 10 wt %. As a consequence, nanocomposite films with more and favorable barrier properties was produced compared to their crude copolymer. They can be used in packaging and coating industries; here barrier performances and desirable physical and mechanical strengths are demanded in order to keep products quite well away from traces of oxygen and humidity
