خلاصه مقاله:
The concept of Transmodernity is a barnd new term to be studied. It came after the age of Postmodernity and criticizes both postmodernity and modernity while as some critics believes it is still the continuation of modernity but with a new spectacle separated from it. The description of transmodrnity dealt within this study, is based upon the theories of Enrique dussel who suggests a wide range of concepts on the term but only two of them as Globalization and Alterity are the main concerns of this thesis. Both concepts are being applied on the postmodern novel of The New York trilogy of Paul Auster part by part namelyas The cityof Glass , Ghosts and The locked Room . Paul Auster does not really function with globalization as a term, but rather identity and the individuality crises that comes with living a life without social relations. Globalization is of major concern. Globalization helps one generate meaning, standards, moral principles etc. The narrator and the stable confusion of who the narrator really is, has the effect that the reader gets an idea of the postmodern consciousness. In alterity a certain pattern in the identity search common to the central characters of all three stories is considered. They all experience a dislocation at various levels, move away to loneliness, and often get lost. Therefore, they try to find the way out of the disorder and into their inner self, and look for the answers to their metaphysical questions through writing. They are concerned with the process of writing as the act of insight. Moreover ,all the works question the identity of the author and treat the mutualrelationship between the author and his creation.
