چکیده مقاله:

The ever-increasing demand for use of implants offering improved function makes development of new biomaterials a challenging task. This involves manipulation of composition/structure to combine multiple properties, sometimes even conflicting, in the desired biomaterial, simultaneously. Advanced computational techniques help in design and evaluation of biomaterials without the need to make any physical object and spend too much money, with reduced risks to the development efforts. However, use of these approaches has been in no regulatory framework and without combination of design and quality tools. This paper describes the link between computational design and a systematic problem solving methodology called Design for Six Sigma and provides a preliminary multidisciplinary conceptual model to achieve the best design by using the respective tools and techniques.
