Kojic acid determination in pharmaceutical samples using NiO nanoparticles ionic liquids carbon paste electrode

چکیده

Kojic acid is a chelation agent produced by several species of fungi, especially Aspergillus oryzae, which has the Japanese common name koji. [1] Kojic acid is a by-product in thefermentation process of malting rice, for use in the manufacturing of sake, the Japanese rice wine. [1] It is a mild inhibitor of the formation of pigment in plant and animal tissues, and is used in food and cosmetics to preserve or change colors of substances. It forms a bright redcomplex with ferric ions. A chemically modified electrode was constructed and applied to the electro-oxidation of the kojic acid (KA). The oxidation peak potential of the KA at a surface of NiO/NPs ionic liquid carbon paste electrode (NiO/NPs/IL/CPE) appeared at 950 mV. The NiOnanoparticle (NiO/NPs) was characterized with different methods such as transmission electron microscope (TEM) and x-ray diffraction (XRD). Under optimized (pH 6.0), linear calibration curves were obtained in the range of 10.0–400 μM for KA, which shows adequate for the quantification in real samples. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of KA in both pharmaceutical and urine samples.
