چکیده

The purpose of the present research is to investigate student leadership competencies development and their involvement in university. The research method is descriptive and correlative. The statistical population of this research includes the students of Islamic Azad University, Region 1. The statistical sample including 375 persons has been selected using Morgan table. Sampling is based on stratified random sampling method. The data collection tool is included of two questionnaires, a student involvement in university questionnaire and a leadership competencies questionnaire. Validity of the questionnaires is measured in regard to formal and content validity. Reliability of the questionnaires has been measured based on Cronbach's Alpha. Descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation, inferential statistics including Pearson's correlation coefficient and two-way ANOVA have been used for data analysis. Research results indicated that there is a significant relationship between student involvement in university and their leadership competencies development. Furthermore, student involvement is different in different matriculation years, so that the students of higher grades are more involved. Involvement is different in men and women. Men are more involved and achieve higher leadership developments. Besides, involvement of the students of basic science in university affairs is more in comparison with the students of humanities.
