چکیده مقاله:

Dam-break represents a potential of flood hazard for population at downstream, due to sudden release of the water stored in the reservoir. The prediction of dam-break wave parameters is complicated by the presence of irregularities in the channel. In this study, the effects of flood waves propagation in the simplified urban areas due to different heights of water in the reservoir numerically investigated based on a physical experiment. This simulation is a represented of dam-break problem for larger scales. Dambreak flow is numerically simulated by the VOF-based CFD commercial software package FLOW-3D . After determining the most effective parameters and apply boundary conditions, simulation is done with using RNG turbulence modeling. The simulated and measured water depths show a good agreement with existing researcher's results. Obtained results indicated that changing in height of water in the reservoir affected slightly the depth of water between the building but it considerably affected water depth at front and around of building.
