چکیده مقاله:

This paper is aimed to elucidate the America’s religions in the eighteenth century by focusingon Deism and Natural religion in this era, which is known the Age of Enlightenment or theAge of Reason. The purpose is to explore the history and origins of deism. It's time to putaside political agendas and secular religious prejudice to put deism back in its properhistorical context.Deism offers a philosophical perspective concerning the nature of God and the universe. Itasserts the belief in a creator God, the first cause who brought the universe into existence.According to the argument from design, God is like the clockmaker. This hypothesis is notspecifically incompatible with the scientific theory of evolution. Those Deists that hold Goddirectly intervenes occasionally to repair or improve the clock, for example by creating anew species, would not be compatible with the theory of evolution, which holds that newspecies can arise on the basis of natural selection. In this paper, by means of Archival Method and Historical Analysis Method, the writer hastried to answer the major question regarding what is the Deism and how was it formed in thereligion history of the United States? And some other minor questions in order to investigatehistory of Deism, causes, principles of thinking, the emergence and evolution of it in Europeand in the United States, its importance and so on.As a result, it is worth to notify that for decades, deism has been generally ignored for itsinfluence on eighteenth century American life. But the evidence reveals that it was animportant movement that inspired Americans to question everything about their world. Therefore, even though deism’s success was brief, it was important in a period so focused ondissent, freedom, tolerance, equality, and justice.
