چکیده

Acquiring first languages focuses particularly on the impoverished language input children receive. What the child hears is only a small sample of language. Children must have an inborn faculty for language acquisition. According to the theory of rationalism, the process of acquisition of first language is biologically determined. In this research, a child's first manifestation of syntax is considered to see how he sets head parameters of the lexical phrases of NPs, VPs, APs and PPs in his language. The data have been collected in one-year field study in which the aim of how a child can set his language parameters in a period corresponding to the starting point of multiword utterances is shown from 18 months to 30 months. It has been concluded that children, at a very early age, seem to know how to project different complements into their heads by determining the direction of the heads either head-first or head-last
