The presence of cracks and notches can considerably affect the impact behaviors of the materials. In this study, the effect of notch length on fracture behaviour of brittle material is investigated using Charpy impact test. The flat specimens and different notch lengths are provided using CNC machine. The energy absorptions for each group of specimens are obtained and the results compared. The results revealed that the energy absorption decreased by increasing the length of the notch. Moreover, the crack tortuosity for different notch lengths is studied. The fracture surfaces were also examined by eye inspection and high magnifying camera and the fracture morphology was discussed.
