چکیده مقاله:

This study evaluated the response of three plants to ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) based on seed germination tests. Mung bean (Phaseolus aureus), fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graceum) and barley (Hordeum vulgare) seeds were incubated with various ZnONPs concentrations. Germination rate of all seeds was not altered under different concentrations of ZnONPs. The measured significant inhibitory concentration for root lenght and weight than control were: mung bean (100 mg/L), fenugreek (500 mg/L), and barley (1000 mg/L). Phytotoxicity of ZnONPs for shoot lengh and shoot weight of mung bean, fenugreek and barley were significant at level of 1000, 1000 and 2000 mg/L, respectively. Generally, root growth was more sensitive than to shoot growth upon exposure to ZnONPs. Clearly, sensivity degree among these plants was in order mung bean˃fenugreek˃barley. This observation showed that the moncot plant was less sensitive than to dicot plants when exposed to ZnONPs. Metal oxide NPs tended to adsorb on seed surfaces in the aqueous medium and released metal ions near the seeds. Our lab experiment showed low release Zn ion. Therefore, phytotoxity of ZnONPs had attributed to their own NPs.
