چکیده
Background and objective: Helicobacter pylori is a gram negative curved bacterium and inhabits gastric and duodenum. The bacterium is related to iron deficiency anemia (IDA) and inflammatory responses causing ulcer and carcinoma of gastric and duodenum. Moreover, it causes the deficiency of factors associated with iron adsorption and transfer.Materials and methods: In the present study, the role of the bacterium in the anemia and several related factors including TIBC, ferritin and transferrin and also the amount of IL-11 expression was compared between two groups of children aging 3-14 years old. For the assessment of H. pylori, Euroimmune (Germany) kit was used for the ELIZA test accoding to the instuctions of manufacturer. For the ferritin measurement, the autoanalyser instrument of Liazon (Diasurin, Italy) with chemi-luminessence method was employed. The measurement of Iron and Transferrin was done with autoanalyser (Hitachi, 711) in an enzymatic method with Bionic kit. For TIBC, the Biochemical autoanalyser of Hitachi 711 was used. Furthermore, for the measurement of IL-11 level, ELISA test (IBL commercial specific kit, Germany) was used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Each group of children contained 55 members and one group was infected with H.pylori, but another group was the healthy control. Results: in the population of children infected with H.pylori, the serum level of iron, ferritin and transterin was significantly lower, but the TIBC was different. Furthermore, the srum level of IL-11 was significantly higher in the infected group. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it is suggested that H.pylori play a role in anemia and induction of inflammatory responses, with a significant increase in the IL-11 level among the infected children with 3-14 years oldکلیدواژه ها
