Effect of Wind Power on Incentive of Other Generators to Exercise Market Power

This paper evaluates the effect of wind power on market power of other generators in both day-ahead and real time market. Hence, new indices of market power are proposed to calculate incentive of generators to exercise market power in day-ahead and real-time market. The proposed measures are calculated for two trading periods in order to consider ramp-rate constraints which limit the output of generators. In addition, transmission constraints are also taken into account in the proposed indices. The paper deals with ex-ante analyses of market power and therefore the proposed indices are considered as ex-ante indices of market power. The indices are calculated for IEEE 30 bus system and effect of wind power is assessed in the test system.
