The place of transportation management in the economy of regional cities (Case of study: the city of Gorgan)

چکیده

Management in the area of sustained city transportation has always been an endless challenge for urban managers in our country, and caused transportation management to be known as one of the most important and complex areas of management and always requiring special support and attention. What is certain is that for solving problems of transportation in cities, managers and planners of this special area should move ahead of present time. However, urban transportation sector is one of the sector which In addition to its direct effect on economic growth, it has a large influence in development and growth of other urban economic departments in a way that in developing countries often between 15 -25 percent of the budget, between 8-16 percent of household income and more than 33 percent of investments in municipal infrastructure is takes place in transportation sector. No matter how much transportation has positive and increasing effect on urban economy. It also has negative effects including increasing the costs caused by urban environment pollution, costs caused by accidents and costs caused by waste of fuel as well therefore, current study has been performed with the goal of evaluating and processing the place of transportation on urban economy and using descriptive-analytic method and with real data extracted from organizational resources in the city of Gorgan. Results of the research’s findings indicate that 107465 liters of gasoline approximately 75.2 billion Rials of national resources is wasted every day. The costs caused by crashes are also approximately 2.9 billion Rials per year. Urban transportation produces 40583 Kg. of different kinds of environmental polluters every year however, 18678 person are employed in Gorgan’s transportation sector. In the end improvement of public transportation in the city if Gorgan has reduced the expenses of low income level of the society by 16%.
