چکیده

Modern Persian literary poly-system was formed under the influence of three main factors: tradition, importation, and national innovation. Among these factors translation has played a major role in the crystallization of national cultures, but as Even-Zohar believes there is a general tendency among literary historians to avoid referring to this role. He states that there are although some sporadic references to individual literary translations in various periods, but these translated texts are rarely thought of as a system. As a consequence the function of translations in making national cultures is ignored (Even-Zohar 2002, 192). Literary critics in Iran have either ignored the role of translation in the development of modern Persian literary system or have treated translations on an individual basis without considering them as a system. For arbitrary translations to be thought of as a system there should be a kind of relationship between them. The significance of this study lies in the fact that it tries to identify the relations between these translations and the literary system in which they function to come to a better understanding of the function of the translated literature for Persian literature as a whole and of its position within the Persian literature.
