A pressing demand for more electric power coupled with depleting natural resources has led to an increased need for energy production from renewable energy source such as wind. Wind energy is one of the extra ordinary sources of renewable energy due to its clean character and free availability. In this paper impacts of STATCOM in a distribution network is examined in presence of wind farm as local loads. This paper presents three strategies for reactive power control in wind farms with STATCOM.
