Fiber reinforced polymer FRP composites have been used for strengthening structural members of reinforced concrete structure, which are deficient or obsolete due to changes in their use or consideration of increased loadings. In this study carbon FRP (CFRP) composite is investigated to determine if its properties can be used to mitigate the load transferred to a shear wall subject to blast loading. The computer program ABAQUS is used to model and analyze the structure and ConWep technique is used in simulations to predict blast loads on structure. The investigation results show the effectiveness of the proposed retrofitting method for the shear wall example in this study. Analysis results show that maximum stress, maximum displacement, tensile and compressive damage are decreased for the retrofitted model.
