Effects of nano-cellulose and additives on adhesion strength of acrylic coating used on beech wood

چکیده

In the present study, the effects of nanofibrillated cellulose (NFC) with hydroxyl benzophenone , zinc peroxide or nano-zinc oxide were studied on the adhesion strength of transparent acrylic paints covered on beech wood. Parallel specimens with size of (100.0 ± 0.5) mm × (100.0 ± 0.5) mm × (20.0 ± 0.5) mm were preconditioned at a temperature of (23.0 ± 0.2) ◦C and (50 ± 3) % relative humidity prior to testing as recommended by ASTM D 3294. Then all sample surfaces were painted by brush, and strength test were performed. Results revealed that NFC modified by hydroxyl benzophenone had highest bonding strength, whereas the lowest bonding strength was observed in NFC modified by Zinc peroxide.
