چکیده

The present study is designed to investigate the relationship between skimming skill and cloze test performance. In other words this research is conducted to answer the following question: Is there a relationship between skimming skill and cloze test performance? This research is conducted through the participation of 20 female students of a high school. They were the third grade students of biology. These students were chosen through random sampling. . To conduct this research, one of the experimental methods named one-group pretest posttest study is used. Therefore, a pretest was used to measure the initial reading comprehension proficiency of the students. During treatment period cloze tests was administered to them and asked them to apply skimming skill. Then a posttest was utilized to examine the hypothesis and to measure the scores after treatment. The data (test scores) was analyzed using paired-sample t-test analysis and comparing the means. The data analysis indicated that there is a significant difference in the scores of pretest and the scores of posttest. There was a significant increase in scores from pretest to the posttest. The results suggest that there is a relationship between skimming skill and cloze test performance and knowing and applying skimming skill can increase the scores of cloze test’s exams.
